Pledge 25 National Conference
ACHAP in collaboration with the Ministry of Health’s National Blood Transfusion Service organized a national Pledge 25 conference on 29th and 30th March to share information on blood donation and the blood situation in Botswana; to contribute towards a standard understanding of the Pledge 25 concept in Botswana; to share experiences on the implementation of the program; to address monitoring and evaluation issues about the program; and to address the coordination of the pledge 25 program. Workshop participants included representatives from the Safe Blood Africa Foundation, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, District Health Teams, the Botswana Family Welfare Association (BOFWA), Youth of Hope, the Botswana Christian AIDS Intervention Programme (BOCAIP), BOTUSA and District AIDS Coordinators. The workshop resolved that the pledge 25 program is a good strategy for youth HIV prevention and that it be launched as a national strategy.
