ACHAP recently handed over the newly constructed Botshabelo ARV Satellite Clinic in Selibe Phikwe to the Ministry of Local Government (MLG). The clinic is part of ACHAPs support to the Government to roll out ARV services and decentralize dispensing of drugs and other ARV services to improve access to treatment thus taking services to the communities. Support to the Botshabelo ARV satellite clinic includes provision of laboratory equipment, computers and furniture essential for the functioning of the clinic. The laboratory equipment will assist clinic staff to perform essential blood tests in a timely manner, enabling them to start treatment on time and reduce waiting period for patients in need of Antiretroviral therapy. The clinic will relieve pressure on the Selibe Phikwe Hospital Infectious Disease Care Clinic which has a patient enrolment of 3 536, as well as the time and costs of traveling to the main treatment centre. The Botshabelo ARV satellite clinic is the 32 second treatment centre that ACHAP has funded and one of the five that ACHAP built in 2007. Others are in Charles Hill, Ghanzi, Kasane, Serowe Palapye and Mogoditshane.
